About the course:
The course will cover Introduction of Old Persian Cuneiform, decipherment of the script & introduction to the Cuneiform signs. Practical reading of several Cuneiform Inscriptions will take place. Some of these inscriptions to be covered are –
1) Pre Darius Old Persian Inscriptions of Cyrus & Ariyaramnes
2) Behistun Inscription of Darius the Great
2) Suez Canal Inscription
3) Daiva Inscription, (describes establishment of Ahura Worship, by opposing Gods)
4) Gold Plate Inscriptions of Achaemenians
5) Inscriptions on Weights of measurement
And several such inscriptions.
This certificate course aims to give its audience a thorough understanding of the history of Western Asia before Alexander’s invasion and the cunneiform script.
