Project Kheliya

Kheliya term originated Khēḷiya originated as a joke term for the tendency to find board game patterns at archaeological sites, especially among students of INSTUCEN Trust. We see Project Khēḷiya as the beginnings of an archaeological survey of games throughout India, fronted by amateurs, as a project to document our intangible heritage, research further on the games and make these games known again. We feel this is of urgent need as many monuments are being re-floored, leading to a permanent loss of this heritage.

Documenattion Work

We have documented game boards at Mandapeshwar caves and Mahakali caves in Mumbai Trirashmi caves and Gondeshwar temple from Nasik Bhaje caves
