Instructor Bio

Dr. G. S. Khwaja is a serious scholar of Arabic and Persian Epigraphy, Medieval Numismatics, Arabic Islamic Calligraphy and Islamic Architecture hailing from Nagpur. A post graduate in Arabic and also in Persian Literature, Dr Khwaja also obtained degree in Journalism and then Ph.D. from Nagpur University, He did advanced Diploma in Mass Media from JNU, New Delhi.
He joined Archaeological Survey of India in 1985 at Nagpur where he headed the Epigraphy Branch for Arabic & Persian Inscriptions and retired as Director Epigraphy in 2016. He is member of the Board of Studies and Faculty at the Institute of Archaeology, Delhi and also member of academic committee of Rampur Raza Library
He has contributed many research articles on epigraphy and numismatics in reputed national/international journals and seminars. He has to his credit namely: Archaeological Glimpses of Indian Culture (1995), Diwan-i-Husain
Anthology (1998), Ellichapur: Tarikh aur Sagafat (2001), Mashaheer-i-Berar
Biographies (2005), Akbar? ke And mein Farsi Tarikh Nawisi
Historiography(2009), Islamic Architecture of Delhi (2011) Encyclopaedia of
Architecture (2013, in 3 Volumes). The Mughal Gardens (2018). He edited issue of Epigraphia Indica-Arabic and Persian Supplement 2011.
He writes criticism and poetry in Urdu, for which Maharashtra Urdu has awarded him for prose writing in 2009. He has also been invested with Gaurau Puraskar, in 2011, for contribution to literature and Raja Bakht Bulan in 2015 for outstanding contribution in the field of Archaeology.
