Hemant Rajopadhye is a scholar of Sanskrit, Ancient Indian history, and South Asian Religious studies. He has an MA in Sanskrit with Gold Medal (SPPU Pune), an MA in Indology (Tilak Maharashtra University, Pune), and an MPhil (SPPU, Pune) under his belt. He is working on his doctoral dissertation ‘Rekindling the Sacred: History of Modern Dattātreya Saṃpradāya in the Marathi Speaking Sphere' at the University of Göttingen (yet to be submitted). He was awarded with the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Doctoral Fellowship by the European Union. He is a visiting lecturer at the Department of Sanskrit (University of Mumbai). He was a senior research fellow at the Observer Research Foundation, a prominent public policy think tank in India. Rajopadhye has also delivered guest lectures at various European and Indian Universities. He has penned fortnightly columns in the years 2018, 2020 for the daily Loksatta and has also written lyrics for Bollywood movies such as Singham, Super 30, and Panipat. He has conducted several academic courses in Sanskrit and Religious studies on various online and offline platforms.
